Main implementing partners / Length of Relationship/Involvement in Project

Further to The Applicant, The University of Manchester, the implementing partners are Universite Joseph Fourier-Grenoble (UJF-Grenoble), Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP) and National Uniersity of Laos (NUOL). The University of Manchester has had long standing formal or informal research collaborations or understandings with UJF-Grenoble and RUPP, whilst RUPP in turn has a long standing relationship with NUOL. Staff at UJF-Grenoble have extensive experience in other developing countries (e.g. India; Thailand, Nepal), University of Manchester has already been involved in a number of research and other initiatives involving environmental monitoring and protection iin several ASEAN countries but in Cambodia, in particular, and University of Manchester staff have conducted various consultations with government (e.g. RUPP, MRD, DAALI, CEDAC) and non-government organisations (PFD, UNICEF, OXFAM UK, AAH-UK, ACF, RDIC, MRC) on environment research initiatives in Cambodia over the past 5 years.

All partner institutions, including The Applicant, will be directly involved in: (i) the programme management committee and its sub-committees; (ii) the organisation and co-operative delivery of at least one workshop; (iii) provision of personnel for networking and dissemination activities; (iv)provision of meeting rooms and laboratories and as required. In addition University of Manchester and UJF-Grenoble will provide: (v) research infrastructure and training for 6 person-years for RUPP & NUOL personnel; And RUPP and NUOL will: (vi) select and provide suitable personnel for research training at University of Manchester and UJF-Grenoble; The Associates, ACF France / ACF Laos, Resources Development International (Cambodia), Intelysis (UK) and NERC (Nepal) will provide expertise advice to the programme management commitment as well as contributing to field and laboratory based workshops as agreed from time to time.
