Research Interests: Applying Geochemistry for Soil Science.

After graduating with a BSc in Chemistry from the Royal University of Phnom Penh in 1988, Huot worked for over twenty years as a lecturer at RUPP, teaching quantum chemistry, inorganic chemistry, general chemistry, agro-chemistry and other chemistry courses.  Huot also has specialist experience and training in areas and techniques such as separation methods and spectrum analysis.

In 2010 Huot was highly active in establishing the Cambodia Chemical Society NGO, with the primary purpose of creating a Cambodian chemists’ network for dissemination of information and research.

During the course of his study and teaching, Huot’s interests focused on the application of geochemistry for soil study.  In July 2010 he was selected to train at the University Joseph Fourier Grenoble in laboratory skills and analysis of heavy metals, such as arsenic, mercury, and chromium in soil samples, supported by the European Commission Asia-Link CALIBRE Project.

Huot hopes to have another chance to work on a similarly practical, training-intensive and modern project.  He currently plans to add the skills and knowledge acquired through CALIBRE to his teaching experience to benefit the students at RUPP.
